My aunt, whom, I was extremely close to suddenly became very ill. It all started when she went into the hospital for a simple procedure. What I thought would be a minor surgery with minimal risks turned out to be critical and life-threatening. After her operations, she desperately needed day by day primary care. At that moment, I knew I wanted to contribute to the field of medicine. I wanted to make a difference and I was determined to do just that. Although, I was unable to make a difference in my aunt’s life, I was eager to positively impact the lives of others. It soon became my purpose in life. Of course, I couldn’t flee into the area and begin saving lives just yet but gradually I became involved in other activities that contributed to my future goals. For example, I began to volunteer at the local hospital and shadow physicians. Shadowing and volunteering was such a rewarding and knowledgeable experience. I was able to interact with patients at all stages and able to directly see how physicians make a difference in individuals’ lives. I wanted to experience that exact feeling that those physicians felt when making a difference in the lives of patients. So, shortly after, I decided to obtain my certified nursing assistance license in high school. Becoming a CNA further encouraged me to pursue my dreams as a primary care physician. My job was such an enriching experience because I learned so much from the healthcare providers that I worked
