VARK Analysis Paper
VARK is an acronym used to describe the different methods and ways in which a person learns new information.
V= Visual
A= Aural
R= Read/Write
K= Kinesthetic
A person can have one particular area as a preferred method of learning however generally a person will use a variety of methods also known as Multimodal. (VARK)
Although more than one method is used one or two of them will be more dominant.
The dominant style defines the best way for a person to learn new information. This style may not always to be the same for every tasks. The learner may prefer one style …show more content…

Preferred Learning Style
Aural Learners: Hear
Aural learners would rather listen to things being explained than read about them. Reciting information out loud and having music in the background may be a common study method.
Other noises may become a distraction resulting in a need for a relatively quiet place.
Kinesthetic Learners: Touch
Kinesthetic learners process information best through a “hands-on” experience. Using the sense of touch while doing an activity can be the easiest way for them to learn. They do well in practical and lab settings. Kinesthetic learners have a difficult time sitting still they move, bounce, fidget and tend to get up and walk around the learning environment.
Preferred Learning Strategies
Preferred learning strategies for the Multimodal learner with methods in both Aural and
Kinesthetic include but are not limited to the following. Kinesthetic learners may benefit from making flash cards using bright colored index cards and reading them out loud while walking around. They tend to study better while lying on a bed or the floor, or listening to music.

It’s important for this type of learner to study for only 20-30 minutes at one time. Aural Learners tend to learn better from repeating information out loud to themselves. They may benefit by recording lectures and pulling out important information and repeating it out loud during play back. The use of word association and mnemonic devices are a great way to remember facts. Watching videos and participating in group discussions are also very beneficial.

Comparison of Strategies
Based upon the identified learning strategies for the multimodal AK learner. It has been my personal experience to use methods such as recording lectures and playback while doing things like cooking or cleaning. Making flash cards using bright index cards and reading them out loud have proved to be quite beneficial. Talking through things and practicing hands on have been the most ideal. Lastly taking a 10-15 minute break after studying for 20- 30 minutes is vital otherwise the information all runs together and is easily forgotten.
Awareness of Learning Styles
Every individual teaches and learns information differently therefore it’s extremely important for the teacher to integrate multiple learning styles into their
