Vegemite Monologue
When I landed in Australia, I was starving from the long flight. I went to check into my hotel and drop my luggage off. It was 9:45 so I went to get to grab something for a snack. I heard about Vegemite and how everyone says it is to die for. I bought bread and some Vegemite and brought it back to the hotel. Vegemite is yeast based spread. When the bread popped out of the toaster, I spread a thin coat of Vegemite on the toast. I tasted more savory than sweet. It was a taste you need to get used to and it smelled quite bad. Either way, it quenched my hunger.

I was tired from the long flight, so I decided to take a nap. I woke up at 12:15. I wasn’t hungry for lunch yet so I decided to go to Manly Beach in Sydney. I put on my bathing suit

I grew up with a Game Boy Color in my hands. No matter where I went, I always had the “Grape Purple” device loaded with any Pokemon game. My favorite was a copy of the Crystal version I bought with my allowance from a friend’s garage sale. He had failed to mention that the game didn’t save, but I fell in love with the whole experience of choosing a new starter that I just played it over and over again unbothered. It was the first time I had felt like I’d been transported to another world, and encountered the transcendental idea of fantasy.…

It's not a place where you drop your children off on date night. I'm not a free babysitter. I am a grown man and I am getting tired of this. Therefore, I'm going to tell you all a story about me. One that I hope you tell your parents. Maybe then they'll stop dropping you off here and my future will have fewer interruptions. I rather be watching baseball god dammit.…

I went to my room and packed all of my belongings into two massive suitcases and loaded them into my old Holden Astra. I took some money from my mother's stash, neatly tucked away, out of sight under the bottom drawer of her bedside table, and then left for the next town over. I found a cheap motel where I stayed a few weeks, trying to find someone that would hire a 17 year old girl that dropped out of year 11. I got a job working at some fast food place that I hadn’t heard of before, and I still can’t remember what it was called.…

It wasn't one of those “love at first sight” kind of situation. Actually, we were originally going the get leave Lily at her foster home because she was the odd one out of her litter of three, she was the gray kitten of a white litter. “If you take one you take them all,” the foster owner said. It didn't take much to convince us to buy three kittens. At first, my affection was directed towards Daisy, who had loved a small green jingle toy. So Lily had no lap to spread cat hair on. This is most likely when she became so bitter to everyone in the family. Once she noticed she wasn't getting anywhere she tried being friendly to us and that is how we became friends.…
