As a popular medium of entertainment, violent video games paved their way into the homes, as a result of which, children started to play video games for increasing amounts of time and have made them a substitute for many social activities. According to the Kaiser Family Foundation,
“83% of children ages 8-18 years old have a video game console in their household, and they spend nearly one hour per day playing video games”(Kaiser). Moreover, these games are widely available across a range of mobile media platforms, which makes it even more popular to the players, and makes it harder for the parents to control the exposure of their children to these games. The debates about violence in society caused by the violent video games is increasingly addressed in the media, and the government takes actions to ban the sale or rental of these games. Playing of violent video games should be prohibited for children and adolescents because they have several negative effects which will affect their moral and physical health, will make them socially isolated, and will cause them to become more aggressive.
