Volunteering In High Schools
Graduation is a time that all seniors cannot wait to experience. Although there are still qualifications to graduate they are fairly easy to pass. To increase student activity within the community many schools across the United States, including Roslyn High School have made it mandatory to complete volunteer work during their senior year before graduating. Emily Fried of Roslyn High School said, “If it was not mandatory, I never would have looked into doing it, but once I started, I liked it and I have continued doing it because I realize how important it is to help other people, it is very fulfilling for me.”[Ain, 2003]. Volunteering should be required be all high schools because it develops personal growth, shows leadership and provides networking opportunities.

Students who volunteer are expanding their network throughout out the community and are preparing themselves for a better future. Networking while volunteering can help seniors get into their dream school or even land a paying job later on in their future. Selfless acts such as volunteering have never gone unnoticed and can financially help you later on in life. Volunteering is an amazing influence and looks amazing on resumes. By volunteering, you'll become known to an entirely new diverse group of people. Seniors will have a whole new group of important people to network with. Those networks will be able to vouch for their direct experience with the seniors that they are honest, trustworthy and reliable. These qualities will not go unnoticed to colleges, universities or future jobs. These people will be able to swear for you to others in their own networks.
