The Civil War is said to be one of the deadliest and most destructive of all America's wars. The Civil War was fought in thousand of different places, from southern Pennsylvania to Texas; from New Mexico to the Florida coast. The majority of the fighting took place in the states of Virginia and Tennessee. Many still debate on what cause the Civil War. The North and the South have been divided for the beginning. The northerners became more against slavery. After some major events such as the Dred Scott Case, John Brown's Raid and the passage of the fugitive slave act that held individuals responsible for harboring fugitive slaves even if they were located in non-slave states.Even though things were already coming to a head, when Lincoln was elected in 1860, South Carolina issued its "Declaration of the Causes of Secession." They believed that Lincoln was anti-slavery and in favor of Northern interests. Before Lincoln was even president, 7 states came over to the Union: South Carolina, Mississippi, Florida, Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana, and Texas. November 6th 1860 was the day that Abraham Lincoln was elected. For the people of the south that was the last straw. The Civil War started because of differences between the free and slave states. The war ended in 1865 and slavery was finally
