Ways to Reduce Bullying in Schools

'Bullying may be defined as the activity of repeated, aggressive behavior intended to hurt another person, physically or mentally. 'Yes, this is a hidden danger in our society. Moreover, it happens in the schooling environment which means the teenage students are bullying each other. Truthfully, bullies usually come from homes where the parents fight a lot, so violence has became a model for them. Something needs to be done by the parents and the school authorities to cease bullying cases from our society. Firstly, the best and most obvious way to stop bullying in schools is for parents to change the way they teach their children at home. Bullies usually have been taught that physical violence is the way to handle problems. Of course, this is much easier to be said than implemented. However, things will not be the same if parents contribute in solving this problem. Hence, parents should teach their children to use a delicate and amicable way to glide through the thick and thin of times to enable the students achieving a positive mind. Somehow or other, schools must have more responsibilities in reducing bullying because bullying always occurs in schools. Besides, students spend most of their time in school rather than home. Thus, early intervention and effective discipline is definitely the best way to stop bullying. Some things can be done at the school level. Most school programmes that address bullying use some varying approach to the problem. This usually involves some sort of activities like counseling, either by peers, a school counselor, teachers, or the principal. Irrefutably, parental awareness is the key to reduce bullying in school. The school authorities should get the children’s parents involved in a bullying program. If parents of the bullies and the victims are not aware of what is going on at school, then the whole bullying programme will not be working out perfectly. Reducing bullying in school takes cooperation and concerted effort on everyone’s part. Bullying should also be discussed during Parents' Day to fathom how the bullies live and behave in their home to find a way to stop bullying. Apart from that, we should not let the students who are not one of the victims to be left unprepared when they face this kind of situation. All teachers should work with the students on bullying. Oftentimes, even the teacher is being bullied in the classroom. A programme should be set up that implements teaching about bullying. We must let students to role-play a bullying situation. Acting out bullying situations is a very effective tool to enable the students wary of what they should do. The bullies will not be able to target their victims because everyone knows to protect themselves. Indeed, there are actually many ways in thwarting bullying cases in schools. Schools can also ask the mental health professionals to speak to pupils about bullying behaviors and how it directly affects the victims. Schools need to make sure there is enough supervision at school to lessen and hence prevent bullying.
