In the beginning of chapter 12 of Huckleberry Finn, Huck describes and explains the changes that he and Jim made to the raft during the night. In this project, I was told to recreate the raft and build the modifications Jim added. As I constructed my model raft, I analyzed the changes they made. I realized that although the changes brought about by Jim did provide some comfort, the modifications that were made were not for luxury at all. They were made so that the two of them had shelter, heat, and protection. These changes were defiantly not extra. They were a necessity for their survival.…

At the start of the project we all had a meeting together to discuss what would be the most suitable and the most popular products to sell within the college. We wrote down all the possibilities such as fizzy drinks, raffle tickets, cakes etc. In the end we decided we wanted to do something with sweets, as there are many vending machines in college which sell chocolate and fizzy drinks and a cafe which sells cakes. There is not much option when it comes to sweets; also sweets are cheap when sold in big bags so we thought if we reduced the size down into smaller pots we would generate profit.…

Imagine a writer who never shares his writing and who represents fiction as non-fiction. Imagine a young man who wants to be a writer so much that he believes his own "lies." In Tobias Wolff's novel _Old School_, the author poses an ethical dilemma to the reader concerning issues of personal identity and honor. Taking place at a preparatory school in the 1960s, the unnamed narrator struggles with moral issues that surround the development of his authentic self. His desperate desire to win the school's literary contest to meet the famous author Ernest Hemingway results in the narrator's singular experience of plagiarizing another writer's short story. Throughout the novel, Wolff demonstrates that…

The next event I looked at was creative problem solving. Personally, I am not the best at critical thinking skills or problem solving skills, but if I actually attempted it I m sure I could. This even allows you to have 1-3 people. This event also has many different rounds. Round one requires you to take a test, and then if you pass the test or test high you move onto the second round. The second round is where you are given a problem to solve in thirty minutes. When you are all done solving your problem you have ten minutes to present your solution. Considering I am not a good test taker I think I’m going pass up this event.…

The death penalty in the United States is inflicted upon criminals by the state as punishment for an offence. This method of punishment dates back to the beginning of recorded history. Various primitive tribal histories indicate that the death penalty was a part of many ancient justice systems (Wikipedia). Nowadays, it is primarily used in cases where someone commits murder. Some people think that capital punishment deters crime and prevents convicted criminals from committing greater offences, but this idea is false. It has been debated for a long time because it is a poor way of punishing murderers. Execution in the United States violates human rights and is not the most effective way to inflict justice. Examination proves this point. The death penalty clearly violates human rights, is not an effective means of preventing other crimes and is very expensive.…

The first activity that was held was the Talent Show. The students were divided into ten groups and a leader was elected from each team. The leader was then asked to draw a lot from a fish bowl. The strip of paper was the category of performance we had to do. Teams either had to sing, dance or put on a fashion show. The students were then given until after lunch to work on their performances. Immediately after a quick lunch, the students gathered at the main hall to start the Talent Show. It was quite a fun activity as the students got to sing in English or they danced to English songs. There were also two groups that had to put on fashion shows. One group dressed up their members in traditional costumes while the other group did an Eco-friendly themed fashion show where they dressed up in recyclable items. The group that won was the latter as they had made a beautiful evening gown out of black garbage bags. It even had plastic bag roses attached to the dress. Everyone was transfixed with the creation. When the teachers announced the winner, everyone clapped happily as they thought it was a good effort by team Go Green.…

Organization: The program went smoothly with some exceptions. A problem that the members encountered was that the glue they provided didn’t stick to the fabric for the stuffed hearts. This hindered people from being able to finish their hearts. We had to wait for staplers to finish making the hearts, which was what the event was centered and focused on. In addition to that, with that obstacle, a lot of time was wasted, and we had to be rushed out of the room because other people reserved the room. Moreover, I feel like holding the event for one hour wasn’t enough time for the participants to circulate around the different craft stations and fully engage in each activity. The club members weren’t really organized because they didn’t test out making the hearts before presenting them to us. Both the club members and participants were going through a learning process together, which is not necessarily terrible. However, I do feel like the club members should have been a little more prepared. Aside from that, the event went well and was still engaging and…
