Week 26 – Favorite Moments
There are so many games, matches, meets, etc. in each season, and I attend nearly 75% of them I’d say, so it’s hard for me to pick my favorite moments of the season; I’ve tried to compile a list nonetheless.
The beginning of the season seems like a logical place to start.
Right off the bat, the girls’ basketball team was able to string together five wins to spark the season – something that’s never been done for girls’ hoops since the 1990s.
Not only is it important to start off strong, but it’s crazy since the program was able to flip the script from its preceding several season so suddenly. It verifies the cliché that although we may endure some rough patches, there is only room for improvement and success. The Beavers started their streak against LaFargeville with a 15-point victory before going on to take Sackets Harbor by a bucket and Alexandria Bay by 10. The team then toppled Sandy Creek 46-21 and beat Lyme by six. Another highlight for the Beavers was when ninth grader Emma Puddington was named Frontier League MVP in the “C” Division. Puddington was the second leading scorer for the Beavers with 244 total points this season, behind Sierra Neddo’s 263. Another one of my favorite moments was in early January when the Neddo brother-sister duo was too much for the Lowville teams to handle. Sierra Neddo was the game’s leading scorer with 22 points, powering the Beavers in the 40-36 comeback victory over Lowville. Later that night the boys’ basketball team pushed to a 14-point win, tallying the second victory over the Red Raiders in one day. Brett Neddo led the offense for the Beavers. Beating our rival isn’t all that matters, however. As a senior, I enjoy watching my classmates come out on top on their senior night, too. The boys rallied to defeat Copenhagen in what was a close game until the final quarter. Down by five points going into the
