“Imagine someone who suffers from lapses of memory, hallucinations, sudden depressions and nameless fears. These are all mental symptoms, in the straightforward sense of involving states of mind” (Scruton, 1981, p. 37). Imagine living with these “lapses of memory, hallucinations, and sudden depressions and nameless fears” every day. Now imagine being unemployed and trying to learn to cope with all these symptoms on top of trying to succeed and find a job. There are many people who have a mental illness that have the desire to obtain community employment. Many people want to work so they can have the money to fulfill their needs and their wants, to be independent and to socialize with their coworkers and/or customers. Nevertheless, many people who are successful in their lives are successful because they are self-aware. This means the person understands their selves, their biases, and their reactions. Being self-aware is important, it means people really understand their wants and their needs and are able to know the difference between the two. They also know how to take care of themselves and this can make them more productive in their lives and in society. Also, many people have difficulty with change and are reluctant to change. Some of the reasons the consumer may be reluctant to change or doubt their capabilities is because the person may be ashamed of their situation, disability, lack self-esteem, and lack confidence. By the counselor understanding the consumer’s reluctance to change or their doubts, it could provide insight that could help the consumer be one step closer to understanding their abilities that will help them succeed in the

He has managed to maintain his current job for over 2 years, the longest job he has ever hand.
