Thinking nothing about it we proceeded with the conversations and laughter. But in a few short moments the laughter suddenly stopped and turned directly into frantic shouts. The guard rail crunched as we barreled straight through it and over the edge of the bridge. So many thoughts raced through my mind in that short time of the fall, but I remember what I saw when I opened my eyes…black. I felt dizzy and helpless, until I noticed that I was the lucky one. I quickly ran to the crushed car to check on my friends, who had not been thrown from the vehicle. As I got to the car, the doors were crushed shut and my only option was to break the window in a last attempt effort to save my friends. As I got one friend out I carried him up the side to the highway. As I got to the top, a vehicle slowed to a stop as he saw were in trouble and covered with blood. I handed my friend off to the good Samaritan and franticly got back down to the car. As the sirens and lights filled the night sky I pulled my other friend out of what was left of the car. As I got him on the ground, I was met by the rescue team sent to help us. They helped me up the side of the bridge and to the ambulance.
