What Does Coming Of Age Mean?
What does coming of age mean? Coming of age into a young adult means you’ll have to become more independent, mature, and have more responsibilities. Being independent there’s a lot of freedom, independence requires confidence you can’t rely on others anymore, you'll have to be selfless. Being mature you have to make wiser decisions, if you don't make the right choices there would be consequences, but all of those experiences will prepare you for adulthood. With more responsibilities you may feel a increased amount of pressure in certain aspects of school and work.

You become more independent when you evolve into a young adult, if you are obedient you’ll get more freedom to do what you want. When you’re independent you should not depend on other people, it may just be you sometimes so you have to be self assured. You won't really get anywhere in life if you are dependant on other people, you'll have to make your own decisions and be confident about them.

The Kite Runner tells the story of the character Amir who is a boy trying to deal with his own internal conflicts involving the relationship with his father, Baba, and friend Hassan; which also happens to be his servant. There have always been challenges that a young adolescent must make to become an adult. Whether it was one hundred years ago, or today in this day and age, the challenges are ever so present. Unfortunately, the challenges faced back then were far more harsh and difficult for the young adults compared to the present. They lacked the technology, resources, and knowledge we now possess today. Most jobs one hundred years ago had to be physically done by people, not machines, which the 21st century seems to love. Although times are now different in the sense of materials and knowledge, the society and traditional structure of becoming an “adult” still stands; you get a job, you get married – you are an adult. There are plenty more things that need to be done and prepared for before even entering the work world, let alone becoming an adult.…

    Becoming an Adult

People never seem to quite understand the meaning of being an “adult”. I myself am not very sure of the full meaning of it. It has always seemed to me that age is irrelevant. You can be 12 and understand things better than a 30-year-old or you can be 40, have two PhD’s and still wonder if pigeons are migratory birds. Many people my age think that getting out of their parents’ house is an act of maturity but how does changing your situation prove that you are an “adult”? If they run away from home it is more likely to lose themselves trying to cope alone and underprepared with the difficulties in life. To become an adult you must achieve a separate identity. Still everyone perceives the world and every thought in it through their own consciousness.…
