Being an American to me means freedom, the power or right to act. Everyone has the right to act…
All Americans are guaranteed equal justice. They are allowed equal justice because America is a free country. Americans are inclined to freedom and with that freedom, have the ability to create infinite opportunities for themselves, which then allow them to find success, happiness, and prosperity. Americans can find these opportunities because they live in a meritocracy, and are provided with rights and freedoms that come from The Constitution of the United States of America. The Bill of Rights, the first ten amendments of the constitution, are a significant portion of rights that give Americans their freedom. Some of these rights include, the freedom of speech, religion, right to bare arms, the right to equal justice and right to own private property. They also to enjoy many other freedoms such as raising a family, traveling anywhere in the U.S., having the freedom to receive a free education, and work at any job for which a citizen can qualify. Through these freedoms Americans are able to pursue careers in anything that gratifies them, practice any religion they believe in, and being able to protect themselves from harm with the right to bare arms. This allows them the opportunity of living a life of happiness and success, all because they have the freedom to do so. Americans ability to embrace their freedom, use it for the better of the world, and to prosper in whatever they choose to pursue, is the meaning of what it means to be an American.…

Being an American cannot be defined by one simple word or phrase. Since the formation of The Declaration of Independence in which the United States declared itself as a sovereign nation that is not beholden to any country, that is when an American identity came into existence. The meaning of an American has evolved and been interpreted in different ways throughout American history. After the formation of the United States Constitution, the core values of an American were embedded in that document. Because of the Constitution, these values were able to be passed on from generation to generation.…
I feel like generations before had a different definition of what it means to be an American. I feel like our grandparents and great-grandparents; whom were mostly immigrates set out to make a better life for generations following. They emphasized on working hard, owning their own homes, and building big families. There was a strong sense of community, and respect. Even though the core idea hasn’t changes much. Now, I feel as if America has turned into a country of arrogance, intolerance, and greed. Although, difference issues and situations have been worked through, there is still much work to be done.…
The United States of America is a wonderful country where there is equal opportunities, rights and freedoms, and justice. America’s founding fathers like George Washington saw the potential of America being the greatest country of all. They created the constitution. The constitution created a stronger federal government and gave citizens rights. It wasn’t until 1865 that the United States Constitution ended slavery. America has prospered so much since then and now in the 21st century everyone wants to come to America where there is work and you can live a better life. Sometimes Americans take these rights for granted and end up in prison losing their right of freedom and close all their opportunities. Americans should cherish all their rights. I believe that an American is someone who has liberty, has opportunities to become successful, and can vote.…
My idea of what an American is could be considered old fashion and would probably fit better in Benjamin Franklin’s era than the current time period. Most people have heard the saying, “as American as mom, baseball and apple pie”, however, I feel that what makes a person an American is deeper and more meaningful than that. Being a true American involves pride, honor and responsibility.…
What truly is an American? Many people would answer with “an independent thinker,” or something like “a free man” or “a free woman.” Being an American is much more than thinking independently or just being free. Being an American means taking pride in America. Being an American means taking pride in everything about America. Being an American means taking pride in being American.…
Someone could ask me what me, “What does being an American mean to you?” Well up until now I haven’t put much thought to it. I don’t know much about being an American, what I do know is we have rights. As Americans we don’t have monarchy. We’re a free country; we have the choice to be able to vote for who we want running, not our lives but our country. To be an American is the greatest thing in the world to most people, having a voice, a place you won’t get punished for speaking freely, or thinking differently. America gives you tons of opportunities. We have a constitution that keeps everything in balance.…

Baldwin, following the tradition of several American writers and artists, found inspiration and refuge in Paris.…
The United States of America honors freedom of religion meaning every citizen has the ability to choose their religious affiliation and practice it without persecution. Freedom of religion is seen as a human right, not something that the government chastise or have control over. This is an excellent attractor for the countless numbers of people not living within the US. In countries like Burma, there are repercussions for practicing certain religions or not converting to the faith of the majority.…
