This comes to show that when Bryson suggests that, "Few really successful brand names of today were not just as familiar to your grandparents or even great-grandparents, and a well-established brand name has a sort of self-perpetuating power."(404), his idea is relatively true, where the Nike or Adidas logos and…

However, in contrast, Oliver Stone once again neglects to include another important element into his movie The World Trade Center. With two hours of dialog and one shot of a falling building, not once is there to be seen an American Flag before or after the collapse of the Twin Towers. The film is more like watching a script from "All in the Family" because more time and attention is given to the police officers personal lives and families than any details of showing the gripping horror and effects of 9/11 on all of New York City. One would have anticipated, at least, that there would have been that touching, heartfelt, and solace moment from the famous photograph of the three firefighters raising the American Flag on Ground Zero to have been included in the movie but sadly, it was not.…

The September 11th attacks on the World Trade center not only affected New York but also affected the entire country in a way that no other event has. The attacks shook the way of life of many people including those in the classrooms around Nebraska. After the attacks George W. Bush said, “Today, our fellow citizens, our way of life, our very freedom came under attack in a series of deliberate and deadly terrorist acts.” It was just that the way of life of citizens was threatened across the nation. The 9/11 attacks affected the country in a number of ways professional baseball did not play their games as well as college and professional football did not play that weekend in the wake of the attacks and even some parents showed up to schools to get their kids out of the classroom for that day and the next. September 11th 2001 was the deadliest attack on United States soil and was an event that will forever be remembered in history.…

Negotiations cannot convince al Qaeda's leaders to lay down their arms.” This example is referring to how strong Hitler’s army was and how it was about impossible to stop with no violence involved. Obama brings Hitler's army to make a connection with the audience about the world around them and how violence is necessary at some point in a situation such as stopping an army.…

After World War II, the world was in a transition area from warfare to “Cold War” ,the period in which countries tried to establish themselves as a new form of ”republics“ rather than “empires”. We would have rights to say that there was three main parts of the world two of which were actually ”sides”. Those sides were unquestionably capitalism and socialism, better to call the U.S and USSR. Those two sides were clearly competing for the sake of almost everything such as industry, transportation, space studies etc. Apart from those two sides, there was also Europe. After WWII, Europe clearly understood that they have had enough of wars and disasters, especially if we take Hitler into account when thinking this condition. Thus, we more saw European countries trying to establish new orders, laws and systems to recover big losses they have got after seeing two world wars in a row just in 30 years. Thinking in this context, new systems have emerged, new ideas showed up in art forms as well.…

Before that date most people living in New York City would not want to get involved with anything or anyone that might distract them from their own lives, thus making New York City seem like a very unfriendly city. When I lived there, for a brief period seventeen years ago, I was surprised to see so many people looking down, not smiling at others and in general just rushing about their business. I had the impression that most New Yorkers would have stepped over someone lying on the sidewalk rather than to stop and help them. On that fateful day we saw a city of supposedly uncaring people change before our very eyes. We saw complete strangers stopping to help others get up and run for cover. In the days following, we continued to see New Yorkers helping each other. We also witnessed our nation as a whole come closer together. Blood banks were overcome with people wanting to donate blood; firefighters and policemen from across the nation donated their time, energy and equipment searching for survivors. Just about everyone in America wanted to help the people of New York and nobody expected anything in return. I imagine we saw such overwhelming support and care due to the fact that the terrorists had not just attacked New York, but our entire country. Also the fact that most of us had never experienced such devastation before. This is one of the few times I have ever…
