What Is My Highest Career Aspiration?
My highest career aspiration is to become a part of the World Health Organization; provide long-term health solutions in its public health area. I am desirous of working on strategies; developing programs that will prevent the spread of disease; create healthy communities, as I introduce feasible plans to eradicate the epidemics like, Cholera and AIDS that plague developing and third world countries.

Discovering the wide spectrum of health sciences as a biotechnology undergraduate, I opted to pursue a Master’s in Clinical Research, where I studied its aspects, which dealt with diverse approaches that could be effectively applied to address people’s health problems. Furthermore, I also understood from, the taught courses that clinical trials

Data Management and Pharmacovigilance. Ideating with pharmacologists and research scientists in conferences and symposia, like, Advanced Clinical Research and Pharmacovigilance in February 2011, I gained insights into the ongoing research in the field. Moreover, inquiring for my review article on ‘Clinical Research Regulation in India’, as co-author, I further honed my skills at collecting literature, compiling information; presenting interpretations. Importantly, as my eyes were set on a career in the public health domain, I enrolled for the Pharma Regulatory Affairs postgraduate diploma, concurrently, while a graduate student of Clinical Research.

A year’s tenure with the Central Drugs Standard and Control Organization, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare where my work involved critically examining and reviewing applications for clinical trials, processing applications for protocol amendment and Test Licenses and preparing background notes and expert letters for NDAC/SEC meetings, were enriching experiences, especially as I intend to work in the public health

I am particularly interested in research with regard to Health Care Epidemiology. Studying it at the advanced level, understanding the interconnection between the prevalence, frequency and determinant of a disease in a population set will augment my knowledge base, exponentially. Eventually, as a qualified epidemiologist, I will conduct studies; analyze collected data from the previous or present populations to further provide a path to develop strategies and prevent health problems for generations to

I was introduced to the field I am interested in from my 9th grade biology class. I was intrigued by the subject and fascinated with all the advances in society that have been made by scientists throughout the years. The possibility of being able to do this in the future kept me engaged and I further pursued this interest by currently taking AP Biology. In addition, I was inspired by the change that scientists can make through research and…

My clinical experience has inspired me to research conditions I have encountered. Observing the symptoms of a patient suffering from multiple sclerosis led me to read through journals. I found that multiple sclerosis is an auto immune, demyelinating disease caused by intolerance to myelin sheath. This impairs nerve conduction which cause symptoms to present. I researched and evaluated tumour’s radiological response to anti vascular agents in my dissertation. I critically appraised the radiological methods used to measure tumour response to determine an effective imaging modality. This has given me the skills to critically evaluate scientific literature and write academically. Continuous studying has led me to achieve a’1st’; be part of high…

According to Hagland (2015), using UPMC’s data governance program, information has become much more organized; access to the correct data is made much easier, and actionable insights can be discovered. Before the data governance program was established, UPMC’s wealth of data was organized like, as Vikek Reddy, M.D. chief medical information officer in UPMC’s Health Service Division, puts it, a “note bloat”. The unorganized “note bloat” of data made it hard to define the prevalence of clinical conditions. Without a clear definition the prevalence of clinical conditions, problems emerged for those trying to use the data for research and personalized medicine (Hagland, 2015). Hall (2015), who further elaborates on Hagland’s article, explains that the data governance council that UPMC created was able to formalize and standardize the use of data across the enterprise. Thank to the data governance program, the “note bloat” problem was removed. Not only that, UPMC claims that their program improved patient outcomes and were able to save $15 million in medical costs (Hall, 2015). The data governance program has helped UPMC develop and maintain…
