What Is The Purpose Of This Syllabus?
1.) After reading the course objectives in the syllabus, I strongly believe that the purpose of HIS 231 is for the class as a whole and individually to explore and reflect on values centered on sexual behaviors and attitudes. We will explore these values through the history of interaction among all genders as well as focus on the challenges, similarities and differences faced by culture beliefs throughout the past generations. Not only will we explore and learn about the history of U.S. sexuality but we will refine and develop what the content means to us today. However, while developing and redefining our values, we will not be focusing on those in our discussion. These are areas we will find ourselves thinking about individually. I also believe …show more content…
In order to do so, we will be using written source we have bought for the course. According to the syllabus we will have heavy loads of reading. To make the most out of this course we must be prepared before class by having the assigned reading and assignment finished by the day they are due. Reading what is required in very important due to the fact that the reading lead the discussions in class. If you do not read what is assigned, you will have a hard time participating in class which will affect your participation grade. In order for myself to be prepared for class and make the most of it, I plan to have the reading fully done by the day it is due. I will split the reading up based on how many days I have to complete the assignment. This strategy will help by not having to read larger reading assignments all at …show more content…
To be present means you are not texting, emailing, surfing the internet, on social media, or playing games. It is important to know that laptops are not allowed to be used unless instructed by the professor. If caught using a laptop when not instructed to, you will lose all privileges and will not be allowed to bring your computer to any future class sessions. If caught using your phone, you will receive an email from the professor after class stating your expulsion from the course. To avoid those consequences, you must turn your phone off before class and leave you phone in your bag. As far as any type of bags go, you must keep all bags on the floor and not your desk. It is very important to stay present within the class

Inappropriate head dress: Unless worn for religious purposes, all head dress (hats / skull caps / scarfs) must be removed during class. This includes “hoodies” or any fashion / gang / biker scarf If you arrive late do not saunter across the front of the class and the professor oblivious to what is going on. If the classroom set up necessitates walking across the line of sight of the professor, then a quick verbal apology is required for the tardy and disruptive entrance. This is not only about civility and communication, this is about appropriate behavior and dress for business students, even in the casual environs of a university. • Please note that violation of any of the above rules may be considered an “offence” under Student Code of Non-‐Academic Conduct (Policy 61) and may result in the imposition of various penalties.…

I approroach this week’s reading by printing everything out so I will have all course work and chapters in front of me. Then I read the entire chapter taking note in my own word so I can understand them better. When I have all my notes and key headings marked out, I read the assignments to see if I read the answer. Sometimes I’ll read the chapter over again to make sure I didn’t miss anything important in my notes. I even reread my notes a couple of time to make sure they make sense, but before I do any type of finial paper I search the library to find more info if I quite don’t understand.…

** The total possible points earned during the semester by a student will probably not add up to points stated above so it will be necessary to normalize the points of this category to 100 points. For instance, if your total possible score for homework adds to 85 points for the semester, the points that you have earned will become a percentage of 85 points which, in turn, will be multiplied by the 100 points needed for grading. For instance if you were to accumulate 85 points for homework assignments and quizzes, you will receive 100 points toward your final grade (85 earned points / 85 possible points) X 100 = 100.…

I currently approach the reading in the course very cautiously. When reading any of the material in or out of class, I take my time. It is important to do so because by going to quick, there is a chance of missing some of the material. By reading slowly I can assure myself that I have better chance of taking in more information. Also by removing myself from any distractions, I can concentrate harder on the things that I am reading. Preparing for my reading sessions in advance helps to optimize my chance of greater concentration on my reading materials.…
