Amanda’s mom made her prom dress exactly as she wanted it. She had asked for a black dress with silver sequins.
When her mom finished sewing it, it was a perfect fit. She wrote to her sister who was away at college to tell her all about it.
In the letter she wanted to highlight how pretty the sequin design was. So she elaborated on that one specific detail.
Sometimes when you write, you may need to highlight a few specific details.
The best way to elaborate on a specific detail is to further explain it by telling a story, using an illustration, or giving more examples.
Amanda elaborated as much as she could by giving examples.

She was hoping her sister would get a good idea of what the dress

Cara was standing off stage during the school assembly. She was waiting for her high school teacher to introduce her music recital solo.
Karen is a gifted pianist, and for her school’s 100th year anniversary she decided to play the school alma mater as a solo.
Not too many people know about Cara’s love for playing the piano, so her teacher decided to write a brief introduction to get the audience interested.
When you introduce something, you should offer just enough information to peak everyone’s interest.
Too much information in an introduction tends to spoil the experience.

Rochel just completed her five-paragraph essay and exhaustedly heads upstairs suppressing a yawn. After tiredly getting on her pajamas, she mechanically lifts her toothbrush, smears on a generous amount of toothpaste and proceeds to brush her teeth. Her mind is wandering to how she will pass her test tomorrow, what she should wear on Rosh Chodesh and if she should go with a salad or a wrap for lunch the next day. She then monotonously cleans her toothbrush, rinses her mouth and turns of the faucet unbeknownst to the fact that that extra minute she took out of her nightly schedule saved her much time and aggravation. Tooth brushing seem to be an insignificant act we unconsciously do every day. However, brushing the teeth is important because it helps maintain oral health, it reduces bad breath and gives the brusher a cleaner and whiter smile.…

Introduction: Hi. My name is Greyston Aguilera and I will be testing the dynamics of basketball bouncing and how air pressure and outside temperature will affect how a ball bounces. Almost all sports involve using balls. In a lot of sports the weight and air pressure is regulated. For example, the National Basketball Association regulations say the ball air pressure must be between 7.5 pound per-square-inch (psi) and 8.5 psi. That means that if you have less than 7.5 pounds of air pressure in the ball, it won’t be as bouncy, but if you have more than 8.5 psi, the ball will be too bouncy and hard to control. The reason there is a standard is so the players have a better performance and it’s fairer. The bounce can also be effected by how cold or hot it is. In the following paragraphs, I will be demonstrating the history and other research about this project.…

Food/drinks that have been given to children should be always supervised to know the consumption of sugar. excessive sugary drinks and food can result in tooth decay. The other way in which dental decay can be prevented is brushing teeth twice a day. Supervising children while brushing teeth encourages them and is very effective. again, we must constantly have the parents/carers on board to know what type of toothpaste they use and how they brush their teeth so we can follow the same way and don’t make the children uncomfortable, for children under three just smearing the toothpaste is good enough and for children above 3 to 6 not more than a pea sized amount should be…

When you look at family relations in New England, families were much more…
