What Makes a Great Leader? Being a great leader isn’t determined by what he or she wears, how they speak, or where they are from. The qualities that great leaders possess come from the inside. Leadership is a hard skill to master and portray, but the greatest leaders are able to display them. The greatest leaders show specific character qualities by showing confidence, being able to accept criticism, and standing up for what he or she believes in. To begin with, leaders must be confident in themselves. A leader isn’t afraid to speak in front of a group, or to lead by example. Also, leaders must use their confidence to give clear directions to others. Last but not least, leaders are able to relate and motivate their followers because of their confidence in their leadership skills. Next, leaders are not afraid of criticism or analysis. Many people are going to disagree and not like what he or she may have to say resulting in criticism. When faced with analysis, leaders show a great attitude no matter what is going on. They do not let the analyzing affect their personality and how they lead. Great leaders use the criticism and analysis to push forward and to help them reach out to areas of people they may usually not touch.
Lastly, as a great leader, he or she must be able to stand up and fight for what they believe in. In other words, leaders are passionate and confident about whatever they may be speaking about. This also means they cannot easily be persuaded by peer pressure. To make others believe in what the leader believes, they must first believe in it themselves to be influential. Leaders show that they are able to stand up for what they believe in so that others can believe without a doubt.
All in all, there are many traits that make a great leader who they are. These traits are hard skills but any real leader possesses these qualities. Great leaders are confident, accept criticism, and are passionate about what they believe
