What Might Emaline Be Feeling And Why?
When Mrs. Record does not find Joey with Jamie or Emaline, Emaline says: “The alarm that rang in my head on seeing Angus riding in Harry’s truck rang even louder” (page 189). What might Emaline be feeling and why? I think Emaline felt doubtful and relieved. Once she saw Angus with Harry, she knew something bad was going to happen. Emaline knew that Harry Record was going to do an ignorant act because of his hate towards Angus. She kept the image of Angus in the truck with Harry “tattooed” in her mind. When Mrs Record informed Emaline about Joey’s disappearance, Emaline had immediately thought of Angus and Harry searching for Joey. This is why Emaline felt relieved, but then I think Emaline felt doubtful because she knew Harry would never do anything with Angus.

2. Briefly describe the events that led up to Angus finding Joey and carrying him home.

While Emaline was questioning why Angus was with Harry, Harry had driven off far from the town with Angus. Angus was completely clueless of what was about to happen, and he had probably been persuaded by Harry to come along. With lack of empathy, Harry had abandoned Angus in the dreadful blizzard far from town. Angus felt furious, but ambitious decided to accept that he had been abandoned. He started walking back home in the blizzard until he made out a small boy figure in the blizzard. Joey was mysteriously left alone in the blizzard with frostbites all over him. Due to Angus’s thoughtfulness, he had carried Joey back home protected and unharmed by the blizzard. Angus had made himself a shield for Joey from the blizzard. These are the events that led up to Angus finding joey and carrying him

During the colonization of North America, the colonists created opportunities that not only benefited them, but these opportunities benefited the founding of the United States of America. The opportunities created ranged from free practice of religion by the Pilgrims to the chance of getting away from major debt within the lower class of England. The surreal amount of new resources the English had access to created opportunities in the production of goods and trade as well. Although these opportunities had some sort of gain for the Thirteen Colonies, the opportunity that created the largest benefit was the new government systems that originated in Virginia and Massachusetts. Every colony the English created had to acquiescence to a charter, a “written agreement between the colony and the king of England or Parliament.” (“The Colonial Experience”).…
