Where I Lived..
Where I lived…
I’ve lived in many places growing up but I was born in Baltimore, MD so of course that’s where most of my love would go. Ayee, go Ravens! (lol) But as a teenager, my favorite place I’ve lived at would have to be Virginia. It’s where I met my first “love” and met all my, what used to be, friends. While living in Virginia, I lived in two places – Chesterfield, VA and Fort Lee, which is on the Petersburg and Hopewell line. Living on Fort Lee was my favorite. Fort Lee is an army base in which we lived because my mother is in the army. I lived in a neighborhood called Jefferson Terrace and I attended N.B. Clements Junior High for eighth grade. I also lived in Miami for about four years. I spent three years there during my last two years of elementary and my first year in middle school and then I moved back my ninth grade year when my mother was deployed to Iraq in 2009. Although I look at Miami as more of a vacation spot, I did enjoy living there my ninth grade year. I attended Dr. Michael Krop Senior High School and although I wasn’t taking my first year of high school as important as I should have, I really liked my school. It was an outside school and of course, since we lived in Miami, dress code wasn’t strict. (Thumbs up) While living in Miami my ninth grade year, I lived with my father and my sister in Aventura, FL to be exact. We lived in what used to be a hotel on the 25th floor. Our house overlooked water and plenty other tall buildings which looked amazingly beautiful at night. We also lived about three blocks from Aventura mall so my sister and I would walk there just about every day, shopaholics! Lol

Brown Elementary School in Grambling. Besides the drama with my parents, I enjoyed my childhood. Eventually, I started middle school at Grambling Middle Magnet School and for the next three years I played snare drum in the high school band. At this point of my life, things got kind of twisted. I started hanging out with the wrong crowd and as I carried over to high school, I tried a lot of different things. Some things were bad and some weren’t. My grades were slowly dropping until my father decided to take me out of Grambling High School and putting me into Cedar Creek School in Ruston. I transferred during the second semester of my sophomore year and attended there until graduation. I hated this school! I was around a lot of different people of many different races and I didn’t get along with a lot of them until my senior year. I was so happy when I graduated. It was a great feeling to be done with high school! As of now, I attend Southern University in Baton Rouge, where I will pursue a degree in…

Living in "the hood" in Weslaco,TX surrounded by my entire family was really a fundamental thing in my life. When i say entire, I mean literally all of us live a minute maybe two away from each other, and some of us were even neighbors. Now things are a little different and we may have scattered around all over Weslaco but we remain united and always available if one of us needed each other.…

I moved to Colorado when I was about 4 or 5 when my Mother married this wonderful man who raised me to be the man I am today. It may sound strange but I loved the idea of growing up in two states because it gave me the wonderful oppurtunity to see the Great Rockies of Colorado and the Great Plaines of Illinois. When I was younger I moved between the states about every 2 or 3 years so half my education is in Illinois while the other half was in Colorado. Growing up in Colorado I had some incredible times like My brothers and I would spend hours in the summer digging in the back yard trying to see if we could actually get to China (never did) , while in the winters we would spend hours in the front yard building Igloos and slides when it snowed about 4ft. In Illinois the summers were equally amazing we would spend the days swimming at the local pool while we would spend the nights outside of U.S. cellular stadium, when the White Sox were good, a couple blocks down watching the fireworks go off either after a home run or at the end of the game. The winters in Illinois were brutally cold but that still didn't stop us from playing some hardcore tackle football at the High School or sledding down some insanely steep hills. These childhood memories will just keep getting fonder and fonder with time.…

Thinking back on it now, Alaska was an important part of my life, having lived there for the majority of the time I’ve been alive. The small town of Eagle River was a great place to live, even if it gets very cold in the winter. Since I’ve lived there for so long, I learned how to make my way around from Point A to Point B without much hassle and figured out how easily friends can come if you try. Where I lived in a neighborhood that wasn’t too far away from a safeway, so I could walk there and do some errands for my folks, and maybe do some shopping for myself as well. There was a park just across the way, which is where I spent most of my days if I wasn’t being a lazy nerd at my computer. If the summer wasn’t rainy, it…

That is right, the home that we dreaded but now missed. Throughout the rest of my childhood, I would spend my school years in northern Wisconsin and my summers in the Southside of Chicago. As I got older, I learned how lucky I was to have been able to experience both worlds. My cousins in the city were jealous we got to ride horses, milk cows, and ski in the winter. My friends in the country thought I was so lucky that I got to visit the Sears Tower every summer and knew of all the cool, trendy songs before the roller rink played them.…

Glenwood, Glenwood, Glenwood, lol. Man its been a journey for me at Glenwood. Coming to Glenwood was the best decision my mom has made in my life. Before I came to Glenwood I lived in the dangerous part of the south side of Chicago. My family and I lived in a two bedroom apartment. I went to a public school right down the street but never experienced the ability to walk from home to school. My mom always made sure I was escorted or drove up to school when she was away at work. Reason for that was because she feared the danger of me being in the wrong place at the wrong time like many other young people that life was taken away because of somebody else’s stupidity. After a while my mom got fed up with the violence around my house. That’s when my mom decided to send me here to Glenwood.…
