Who Is Saint Philip Neri?
Everyone is born differently, a good different, and God made Saint Philip Neri a special holy fool who had an important mystic gift. Humor is the best medicine anyone could possibly have, and that's what Saint Philip Neri brought everyone in Rome. Saint Philip Neri is the patron saint of humor and joy. He was born in Florence on July 21, 1515 and was a child of Francesco Neri.
At eighteen Saint Philip Neri went to live with a wealthy family member in San Germano. He didn't live there for long, soon after he got there he experienced a mystical vision with Christ and he set off to Rome. The first thirteen years of his experience in Rome, he was a hermit and spent his time in prayer in catacombs, which is a burial place used for religious practice.

He began talking and preaching to people on street corners and at public squares; he made acquaintances in places where people gathered to praise the lord. As he set out to re-evangelize the poor people of Rome he became the founder of the Oratory Of Saint Philip Neri. The Oratory of Saint Philip Neri is a society of apostolic life of
Catholic Priests and lay-brothers, who is a man who has taken religious vows but is not ordained to take part in a full circle of liturgy and is employed in ancillary or manual work, who live together in a community. They are bound together by no formal vows but only with one bond of charity. There are over seventy oratorios with over five hundred priests. Saint Philip Neri was different though. Different from all the other priests in his time. God had given Saint Philip
Neri the ability to read souls and have a special talent to bring out the best of people. The ability to read souls fascinates me, along with this story. Saint Philip Neri was invited to a party that included the richest people of Rome and the most powerful Cardinals. He was announced by

And why did Saint Philip Neri walk into the party with his beard half shaved, you may ask. God gave Saint Philip Neri the ability to read souls, he knew the host only wanted him there so the most powerful people would envy him.
Saint Philip Neri did not do this to teach the man a lesson, he did it to look like a fool. The scripture says that “the wisdom this world is foolish with God, and the foolishness of God is wiser than men.” Saint Philip Neri was a holy fool. He lived a life of such humility that a regular human being could not begin to understand. Saint Philip Neri lived a full happy life. Near the end of his life he suffered from a illness and died on May 26th, 1595. His feast day is May 26th.
Like Jesus, Saint Philip Neri was dedicated to help people convert to Christianity. He wanted to bring hope and love to the poor sinners. He had the ability to read souls and contributed many miracles. In one of his miracles he bi-located, which is a psychic ability in which an individual or object is located in two distinct places at the same time. When he bi-located, he pulled a young man who was drowning up out of the sea and pulled him to shore and then disappeared.

I attended the San Felipe de Neri Catholic Church located in the Old Town Plaza of Albuquerque, New Mexico on Monday October 15th. The church was originally found and served by the Franciscan Faris. When I entered the church I was amazed at how small the church actually was. From the outside the church looks bigger. The first thing that I noticed when walking in is the altar at the front of the church. The altar has statues of three iconic saints; the one in the center is San Felipe de Neri. I’m not too sure who the other two saints are. A kneeling angel on each side flanks the saints. When you look up from the altar, you see some anionic imagery of a cross with the symbol of the sacred heart.…
