Why Are Gmos Important?

GMO stands for genetically modified organism. The term is generally used for food that has had its genes changed using biotechnology. Using genetic modification, scientists are able to produce new varieties of plants with certain qualities, such as being more resistant to viruses or pesticides. Are GMOs good or bad for us? I thinks GMOs good us and maybe people thinks GMOs bad because that pointed out that transferring a gene from an allergenic food crop, such as peanuts, could make the GMO food allergenic as well.
Usually GMOs needed based on several assumptions. First, those genetic solutions are an important part of the tool box to improve production. Genetic is argued to be better, adequate, or at least needed to supplement other technologies. Second, and critical, is that technologies and methods other than genetic are likely to be inadequate. Genetic improvement has been a major part of agriculture since the beginning. Small farmers have long developed crops suited to their environments by selecting seed from plants that fit their needs.
Why GMOs important? From the research, I learn something about why GMOs important to us. One of the reasons is to produce sufficient food for the total population while at the same time not using up or degrading the capacity to continue to produce that amount
Not only can genes be transferred from one plant to another, but genes from non-plant organisms also can be used. Also the benefits, GMOs will which is increased nutrition to crops that have added nutrients to aid in human health, drought tolerance to crops that do not need as much water, making it cost less to care for the plants, disease resistance to crops that are unaffected by viruses, fungi and bacteria and cold tolerance to crops that do not get effected by the extreme cold or hot weather that normal plants would freeze or burn up
