LGBT rights are the rights for lesbian, gay, bi-sexual and transgender people to have and enjoy the constitutional rights of equality, privacy and personal autonomy, and freedom of expression and association (aclu.org). Some rights fought to be considered are the rights for men who have sex with men to be able to donate, LGBT adoption, government recognition or same sex marriages in order for spouses to receive the shared benefits and many other rights. The rights of the LGBT community are controversial because opposers do not feel that lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people should have the right to marry, have children or anything else that normal heterosexual marriages are allowed.

They refuse to be punished for loving who they love so they have chosen to fight for their rights. With every cause there is an effect and the effect of the fight for LGBT rights over the years can be seen as successful for many with the approval of the right to marry in 30 states over America but if we look at the issue globally we see that some effects for the fight for these rights can range from receiving a fine to something even more severe like the death penalty.
