Why Athletes Get Paid?
Has anyone ever wondered what it is like to be rich by playing a favorite sport an individual likes and advertising for a famous named brand companies like Nike or Adidas? All around the world individuals are interested in sports and everyone has a favorite athlete because sports entertain people when they are bored. There are numerous sports for example, basketball, football, volleyball, soccer, golf, boxing, and etc. that anyone can play. Being an athlete is everyone’s dream come true because athletes make a lot of money depending on how good the athlete is. There are three commercial’s that will help support my essay, which is LeBron James in a Beats by Dre. commercial on YouTube, the Nike: Snow Day commercial, and Adidas Is In All Commercial …show more content…

An example is the LeBron James Beats headphones by Dr. Dre commercial on YouTube. It depicts LeBron James working out with the headphones and it also shows how people want to be like their famous athletes, which makes the consumers buy the product. LeBron also makes people think that if they wear the headphones they will make the consumers feel motivated and strong. LeBron James makes a lot of money by advertising for Dr. Dre, Kia, Powerade, and Nike. This is an escape from society to individuals because they want to be like their famous athlete, but it is hard because there are limited spots on a famous sport team. According to Jack, “America’s consumer economy runs on desire, and advertising strokes the engines…” (Solomon 167). In American society, everyone has a strong desire to buy products and especially when the new products come out. Individuals will want to buy all the new products because they are the ones that are trending in society.
