Chris McCandless changed from a person that had no intention to socialize with people routinely and was frustrated with the lies of his father to a person that believed in love of one's neighbor is the supreme form of vital energy and happiness only real when shared. He highlighted one of passages from the book "Doctor Zhivago" by Boris Pasternak, the passage reads "… people discover mathematical infinity and electromagnetic waves... You can't make such discoveries without spiritual equipment... love of one's neighbor, which is supreme form of vital energy" (Into the wild, page.187). While Chris McCandless was reading the "Doctor Zhivago", he noted that happiness only real when shared next to a passage (Into the wild, page.189). This is showing that Chris McCandless did find the true happiness of the life he was looking for.
Based on Chris McCandless's highlighted passages and letters, he walked leave the modern world behind because he believed that through living in an environment that was isolated from the obstacles of the life, he can improve himself and ultimately overcome these obstacles. He also believed that he can find true happiness of the life through living in
