Jesus used parables to illustrate divine truths making the stories easy to remember. Parables were common when teaching in Judaism and may also be why Jesus used them often. Jesus explained the parables only to his disciples and those who had always rejected his messages were left in spiritual blindness, meaning that they never understood his meanings.
