The reason of the Civil War starting is because when Abraham Lincoln became the president it cause about seven Southern countries to secede from the union and they formed a thing called “Confederate States”. So after that there was many other reasons of the why the Civil War happened but some of the reasons are the idea of slavery, tariffs, trading and states rights. So, one of the reason of the civil war is the Missouri Compromise and it was extending to the California border and they are dividing the factor between the North and the South. The Fugitive Slave Act is a person that is an African American’s that had escaped from slavery and was pointed out as a runaway slave. The Fugitive Slave Act had carried heavy fines for the prisons that ran away and the free African Americans and the whites worked on the Underground Railroad. Another reason that the Civil War was the Kansas-Nebraska Act was because the Kansas-Nebraska Act was a man named Stephen Douglas who believe that if he was skillfully maneuvered his bill through Congress that he could split the Whig Party and quiet the slavery issue. When the issue was going on Stephen Douglas tried to dodge the issue and gain the southerns support for his bill by saying that any started was organized that new to the Nebraska territory would be allowed to exercise popular sovereignty.
