Why Did Truman Choose To Go To The United States?

“America was not built on fear. America was built on courage,on imagination,and an unbeatable determination at hand.”-Harry S. Truman. Among the many presidents who accomplished great things,Harry S. Truman sticks out with his amazing feats. Truman went from being an ordinary young man in the military into dropping an atomic bomb,starting the korean war,and almost being assassinated. Not many people can say they have done all that in a lifetime. Many people couldn’t accomplish what Truman did in 4 lifetimes.
How did Truman go from a man deciding to go to the United States Military Academy because he was unable to afford college to the president of the United States? It all started when he met Lieutenant James M. Pendergast, a Kansas city political boss when he was a military commander. At this time he didn’t know the effect this would have on him later in life. With this man and many other friends help he would one day become the 33rd president of the United States. The war brought out very important qualities in Truman.
The reason for this was WW2 was in it’s waning mouths and Franklin Roosevelt’s sudden death left Truman with many huge decisions all of which greatly affected our country. He had to decide whether or not to drop the atomic bomb on Japan and end the war. He made the decision to end the war with this new nuclear weapon because he knew an invasion of Japan would result in stupendous casualties of American lives. It was at this point in American history that everyone truly realized how powerful these new nuclear weapons truly were. Truman made the decision to use this extremely powerful weapon to put /WW2 to a speedy end.
