To proceed, World War 1 erupted due to the assassination of the archduke Franz Ferdinand (1863-1914), heir of the Austro-Hungarian throne, by the Serbian nationalist Gavrilo Princip (1894-1918). One million of them were civilians. Millions and millions suffered permanent injuries. Also so many soldiers returned home with injuries causing their face to become disfigured. President Wilson had proposed a program called the Fourteen Points which he wished that program would help toward developing international relations (Jevtic). As a result, other Allied forces shut it down. In January 1919 representatives from both side, Central Powers and Allied Powers, met in Paris for a peace meeting to talk about how they are gonna move forward. The European Allies were not willing to work with the Central Powers whatsoever, they wanted their enemy to be punished. To continue, they developed something called the Five treaties, one for each Central Power. The most significant and the most impactful treaty was the Treaty of Versailles (Jevtic). Leaders from Germany were invited to sign this peace treaty, but denied after they read that it said that they had started the war, and they were to repay each country who was devastated by the war (Jevtic). Germany, the starter of the war, was required to pay five million dollars to the European Allies in the timespan of two years. As another two years went by, another twenty eight million dollars was added to their bill (Jevtic). As a result, Germany lost territory and was forbidden to build a military or manufacture any weapons or war supplies. This treaty also established the League of Nations. As you can see, this war was a dreadful, heartbreaking, and it impacted the world in the many ways. It was a long war as well, four year war, and these soldiers not seeing their families for that long. It was a terrible war and still to this day it impacts us still.
