While this is not necessarily bad, it can result in separation anxiety, wherein the dogs would exhibit strange and destructive behaviors whenever they are left alone, regardless of how long their human companions will be gone.

A dog may experience separation anxiety for a different reason than another dog because there is no particular reason why dogs experience separation anxiety.

That said, some dogs may be more likely to experience separation anxiety. For instance, rescue dogs are believed to be more likely to have separation anxiety than dogs who had only had one home since they were young.

Dogs who had been rehomed before turning a year old and dogs who’ve had many different homes are at higher risk of developing separation anxiety.

But aside from that, changes in routine can also cause separation anxiety. If the human companion used to work at home but now works outside for long hours, the sudden change and prolonged separation may cause separation anxiety.
