They had their own slang language that they used, they dressed differently, and did their own stuff, mostly to make the normal people upset. They used "Far Out", and "Groovy", in place of "good", or "great". A phrase that they used that we still use today is "hang out" or "hung out". Some slang goes away and some sticks around for decades.
Slang has also changed are language by sentence structure. We now abbreviate words that we normally would not. Instead of saying "How is it going?" we say "How's it going?". Just the use of an apostrophe and a slang word is created. The use of proper words like "shall" and "ought" are replaced with easier words like "will" and "can". Kids nowadays don't say "I cannot go", they say "I can't go".
Texting has a big impact on slang and how words and phrases are used. No longer do we text "you" we text "U". This makes it so that "U" has a new definition it is not just a part of the alphabet, it is now a new slang word for "You". You can have slang words with numbers too. For example the use of "l8tr" instead of "later". Abbreviations are being used in place of sentences. For example, LOL, YOLO, and SMH are used for Laugh Out Loud, You Only Live Once, and Shake My Head. Texting itself is mostly slang and it is mainly hard for those not up to date to read
