Despite the numerous crimes that are committed every day, some of the criminals do not receive a proper punishment. According to a college professor Edward Freser “Perhaps most importantly, in its supreme gravity it [the death penalty] promotes belief in and respect for the majesty of the moral order and for the system of human law that both derives from and supports that moral order." It is well known throughout society that you reap what you sow and people have to face the appropriate punishments for their actions. In the current day and age, this does not apply to most criminals that committed horrendous crimes. A considerable amount of criminals get to live on behind a set of bars while the victims are most likely dead or traumatized for life. People that live in a society trust the government to do the right things and letting criminals live after they committed terrible crimes causes the public to lose faith in the government. In order to maintain moral order, the government needs to have capital punishment in all states. This will maintain public order since people will be happy if people that actually deserve to be executed receive that
