In Patricia Smith’s article, “America’s Choice”, from Junior Scholastic, Smith explains the current state of the 2016 United States presidential election.…
William Mckinley ran in the election of 1895, and won the title of presidency. In the election, Mckinley faced William Bryan, who thought attacking the gold standard and encouraging the coinage of silver would win him the presidency. Unfortunately for him, Mckinley won the popular vote by about 600,000 , the biggest victory in the prior 25 years.…
James Earl "Jimmy" Carter, Jr. (born October 1, 1924) was the thirty-ninth President of the United States from 1977 - 1981, and recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize in 2002. Prior to becoming president, Carter served two terms in the Georgia Senate, and was the 76th Governor of Georgia from 1971 - 1975.[1]…
Also Bernie had a really good college plan. Lots of people think it's a good plan that will pay for college but others disagree. The reason they disagree is because it will consume a lot of tax money from a lot of people. Overall though Bernie Sanders has more positive things in the college plan than negative.…
I chose Henry Clay as the person who I think should have been president instead of these four other men. These other men were incompetent, they lacked leadership, and they each didn't have much support. None of them had much drive or motivation to be a good president, and as for a couple of them, they didn't have much political background at all. Henry Clay, on the other hand would have made a fantastic president instead of these four men. Even though he had already run for president three times, and lost, he still had the potential to be a great president. He had a vast background in politics. He had so much to do with what was going on that time in politics, it seem as if he never died (, from our pages of our history book that is). Henry Clay was a great man and I believe that he stood head-and-shoulders above the rest of the presidents of the 1850's. He was a great man who was secretary of state under John Quincy Adams and an unsuccessful candidate for the presidency in 1824, 1832, and 1844. He was one of the most popular and influential political leaders in American history. His genius in the art of compromise three times resolved bitter political conflicts that threatened to tear the nation apart, winning him the title "The Great Pacificator."…
I enjoyed reading your post. I agree with you in most of your statements, especially with the statement that is “While the minimalist presidency can be argued to be a better approach than a self-reliant presidency as it allows for a delegation of tasks and a more communal approach to decision making, a completely hands off approach is not any more effective than a completely self-reliant presidency. What a strange that there is 100 percent difference between minimalist one and self-reliant one. Reagan and Bush II were in the category of minimalist as you mentioned that Reagan was one of this model. Now, there is an election on November, 2016, and most probably, in my opinion, Bernie Sanders would be a candidate of the Democratic…
Trump has no experience in elective office, while Sanders has been in office since 1981. Trump lacks political experience, while Sanders has multiple positions held over the years as Senator, Mayor, Representative, and Candidate of House of Representative. However, Clinton and Sanders comparison isn’t such a no brainer. Clinton comes with an extensive political background, from being former first lady to Senate and Sate department. Although Clinton and Sanders have similar beliefs, they also have major disagreements. From breaking up the banks to sending jobs overseasas reported by Brown,…
After the construction of this great nation of ours, America was a neutral and secluded place protected by mighty oceans on all sides. We traded with people we could trust, accepted people and did not get into wars that did not involve us. Even though we came from Europe, why get into the fights that they frequently go into? On June 28, 1914, the Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria-Hungary was killed, forcing countries to pick a side. The assassination of Franz and the forcing of choosing a side would ignite one of the largest and deadliest wars in history.…
Lyndon Baines Johnson was on the way out of the White House in 1968 and many were vying for the spot to lead the United States of America. Many people wanted the spot, but the brother of the late President John F. Kennedy was one of the best candidates. He gained support during his time as the U.S. attorney general from multiple minorities all over the country. He supported the end of segregation in schools and enforced the voting rights for blacks. César Chavéz, one of the most influential Mexican civil rights activists of all time, also made it very clear that he supported Kennedy.…
On January 20, 2017, Trump officially became the President of the United States. His Inauguration speech addresses how the people of America will finally have a say in government and that we will all come together as one country. To portray his message, Trump used a solemn tone, strong diction, and constructed syntax to show the people his professionalism towards his new title and what he plans to do during his first term.…
First, I would like to discuss the current Presidential race also known as the 2016 elections, the electoral college has been leaning toward the Democratic Party. There may be a possibility…
On August 19th, 1946, Hope Alabama, Bill Clinton was born and is still alive today (Cole). As a boy, Bill would get into a lot of class elections and would sometimes lose, but would also win a majority, of the elections (Cole). As a boy, Bill was kind and respectable even today (Cole). Bill managed to gain the people’s respect even though he wasn’t a great president (Cole). As president Bill made America a safer place, kept the people supporting him, and gave inspiration to some Americans for many reasons. (Cole)…
I didn't like how the elections went this year. I don't like it because Donald Trump won and I think that because he won there will be a lot of bad things happening in the future. People are already being more racist than they were and he isn't even president yet. I think that there are going to be a lot of chaotic things happening because of Donald Trump. I also think that he would bring us the World War three because of how racist he is to other people . In the next few paragraphs I will be talking about why I think this and how it is already a problem that he is going to be president.…
“We need a leader , not a creeper tweeter!” This was one of the many chants that roared through the streets of Washington , just one day after Donald Trump’s inauguration. I can still remember the hazy morning and the fog covering the top of the Washington Monument. As I looked around I could see all the proud men and women chanting and marching as they throw their fists and signs in the air. The day after the inauguration thousands were in dismay that Donald Trump was actually the president. The person who would be controlling the country for four years or more. People wanted to voice their opinions but they didn’t know how to. So they decided a march would be the perfect way to show how they felt. Teresa Shook made a Facebook Event Page calling for a march in Washington, the next day she had over 100,000 responses. Teresa stated, “I didn’t think the page would get this much attention.” She couldn’t believe it . Throughout the years, many people have struggled to have the…
Whom would you like better, Donald Trump becoming president or President Barrack Obama? The categories that were used to describe them are the 2nd amendment, immigration, taxes. Donald Trump's perspective is majorly different from President Obama's perspective on how to run and take control of America. Especially with the war and conflict between the countries and ISIS.…
