why education is important to me
Why is college important to me?
I often dream about becoming a successful business owner of my own restaurant “T. C’s Jamaican Restaurant, but to attain this goal I must acquire a college education that teaches me how to become the best manager in that industry.
Education is important to me because coming from a family of 8 in Jamaica, I was the only one who went to college and for my brothers and sisters to see that I could reach my goal in life sets a higher standard for them.
Another reason it is important is it opens my eyes to see a better future and quality of life for those around me. Seeing that I can help my family in Jamaica, especially my mom out of poverty and not be ashamed of where we lived anymore. My mom was my motivation in life to become the person that I am right now, and to see that I have exceeded that and more, motivates me to push even harder.
I hope that I have motivated my daughter to do that same to go after her dreams and never give up like how my mother did for me.
A college education helped me to gain the knowledge of the world around me, it showed me how to live a better life and how to become a mature adult who looks and plans towards the future. How to get things done the correct way by following the correct procedures and policies in everything. In Jamaica and in the United States the laws are totally different, so with me attaining my studies in the United States of America, I would have gained the knowledge and the know how to deal with my everyone in the correct and justifiable way.
It benefited me all throughout life by showing me that not because you are from a poor country if you put your heart and soul into in you can achieve it.
It also showed me how to handle financial problems and how not to be living pay check to pay check every month. Having a solid understanding of how to manage finances is very important too you and everyone around me. To run a successful business you have to know how to manage money for you
