So, I took it upon myself to always speak to him and just try to interact with him, getting him to open up and talk to the other kids. One day a lady came with her brief case and it was his social worker. The little boy had been considered as being neglected, by his mother. The charge was that she was mentally ill. The social worker would ask him a series of questions, and he would answer them. She always tried to make him feel comfortable with her. After she would finish, the little boy always said, “no matter what my family say my mom is not crazy, she is just being herself.” After seeing that, I knew that I wanted to try and do more for bettering a child’s life outside of the classroom setting.
