Why I Want To Become AVID
Fortunately programs meant to enable students ability to achieve their goals such as AVID have been created to give kids and teenagers an advantage in numerous ways. I hope to join AVID because I want to improve overall as a person. Currently I would say i’m not the most preeminent organizer and I would like to improve on my organization and this is my first reason I would like to be in AVID. My second reason for hoping to join the AVID program is because I believe that the tutoring twice a week will benefit me in a positive way which would improve my grades and knowledge of what I am learning. Lastly, I would like to be part of the AVID program because I believe that AVID will motivate me to be successful and achieve my potential.

To start off, I would like to be in AVID to improve my organization. Overall I would say my organization is nowhere near perfect. I have been told by countless people at Varsity Lakes Middle School that AVID really does help people with being more organized and better prepared. This is an area I would like to improve on because I have lost numerous sheets of work over my middle school years due to being an unorganized person. This has caused me to lose grades that should’ve been easy assignments and I would like this to end and I would really benefit with changing my

In my opinion, the tutoring would benefit me positively because it would provide assistance for any work that I do not know how to solve. When I was in the AVID program back in 7th grade the tutoring was beneficial to me because it allowed me to expand my learning and learn from college tutors who were better informed on what I needed help on. Even though this was a huge advantage for me I made a choice I was soon to regret and decided to get out of AVID but now I believe that I am prepared to be in AVID again. The tutoring part of AVID is very important to me and I wouldn’t take it for

For me AVID is a very beneficial resource. Staying in AVID is going to provide me with more opportunities for community service and I would use those opportunities to get as many hours as possible. AVID also has a lot of information about college, there are guest speakers that come in to talk about their experiences and for me, that is important information to have. I would use all that AVID offers to help me succeed. I hope I can be allowed to continue on in…

My academic, professional and social skills have increased immensely since I have begun this program. Through this process I have gained a deeper understanding of what this chapter has to offer me. Primarily, a network of men with similar goals and similar backgrounds determined to develop each other. Learning is a lifelong process, and to join this network I would have access to unrivaled mentorship and experience. Furthermore, I would have the opportunity to give the same mentorship back to the newer members of the organization. Lastly,…

From there, I hope to study to be accepted into medical school and specialize in pediatrics. When preparing for medical school, the advice one hears are to become a well-rounded student. Through my DECA experiences I have been able to develop leadership skills that will help me thrive in my future. Over the three years I have been involved, I have stepped out my comfort zone and made a difference in my local DECA chapter, community, and my future. Now taking the responsibility of being a DECA officer, as the chapter president, has allowed me to continue to grow and develop my leadership, communication, and social skills. Working with the Milan DECA Chapter members has proven how difficult and enjoyable being a leader is. At times leading so many events can be stressful; however, the completion of the events pushes me further. In order to reach the goal of becoming ‘well-rounded’, I used DECA skills to organize my time to join other extracurriculars within my community. Along with DECA, I participate in 4-H which is a non-profit organization in counties all across the nation that prepares youth to make a positive impact on their communities. Furthermore, I lead my 4-H club in a Relay For Life team through the American Cancer Society. Additionally, I am a dedicated musician, drum major, and the first Milan High School Flute Choir Director. I am an active participant in the peer education program at Milan High School. I am so thankful for the opportunities to be a leader within my class, school, community, county, and…

Although I can’t answer all the questions about how I’ll do it, I’m certain that I want to make a difference in the world. Barnard’s atmosphere and its joint theater program are the main factors that have influenced me to apply. Academically, Barnard is known for its intimate learning environment. I’ve spent my entire life going from one close-knit group to the next. Whether it was Taekwondo, Dance, Theater, or The Commonwealth Governor’s School, each of those groups were empowering, nurturing, and noble in their own individual ways. Barnard embodies all of those qualities, which is what I find attractive. Also, the joint-program for theater really speaks to me because it’s my personal belief that collaborative endeavors create true art. It’s true art that touches the lives of those who work on it and those who see it.…
