During my training, right through I have had increasing responsibilities for numerous patients. This has incorporated my time management, prioritising care, completing written documentation and communication skills. In delivering patient care I always practice by maintaining patient confidentiality, dignity and rights whilst respecting patient individuality as I believe that the NHS is a symbol for equality and cultural integration. I consider these factors fundamental to facilitate trust between the patient and the nurse as well as considering the importance of professionalism. I also realise the importance of policy adherence when performing nursing procedures and administrating medications, as I am able to recognise my own capabilities and when I am in need of advice from another member of staff. Within a ward setting, this prioritisation is often based usually on triage and assessment that I have made of the patient to help myself decide the level of nursing required for intervention and taking into account the child and family and delivering family-centred care holistically. The nursing process has been a core component of my training and therefore I now feel competent in assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating nursing care.
