displayed in the speeches that Donald Trump has been presenting to the people at his rallies in different states. To better understand the syllogism of both people. One can look at persuasion, ethics, and logic understand the rhetoric that each leader uses in their speeches. Many people have recently come to understand just how closely Trump has been analyzing Hitler over the years. His former wife Ivana Trump told Vanity Fair in a 1990 interview that “from time to time her husband reads a book of Hitler’s collected speeches, My New Order, which he keeps in a cabinet by his bed.” One can understand just how closely Trump studied Hitler’s rhetoric in his speeches, and it is displayed through his speeches. Trump has had a very soothing way of persuading his audience into understanding him. Currently the United States of America is facing so many issues with ISIS and other Islamic Extremist groups making and carrying out threats against the US. Trump has been able to persuade his audience by saying he is going to ensure their safety from Islamic people. He’s done this by putting down President Barack Obama for not being more direct in saying who is responsible for recent attacks of hatred in the US. Trump states that Obama is wrong for not saying it was “Radical Islamic Terrorism” that is being displayed in America. Trumps audience his not proven how erudite they are in understanding Islamic Extremists and regular people of the Muslim faith. He uses this as a crutch in gaining the trust of the American people. This trust is built on him conveying that he wants to return this county to its “Good ole Days” as he stated when addressing the issue of the Orlando shooting. This same practiced was used by that of Hitler. He stated that, “… and acclaim with overflowing hearts our nation, our fatherland, and our Fuehrer.” Hitler was winning the hearts of the German people by promising to restore the county. His can tell that during this time World War One had just finished, and Germany was in a low and desolate place economically, and they needed a leader to bring them back to famed glory. That is what Hitler promised to the people. Hitler believed that many of the issues of Germany was because of the Jewish people. He believed that they had to be done away. December 12th, 1941 just five after the Pearl Harbor attack on the US by the Japanese. Hitler said this speech to the German people to keep them calm about the upcoming World War that was about to happen yet again making this World War II. Hitler said, “With regard to the Jewish Question the Fuehrer is determined to make a clean sweep. He prophesized that if they brought about another world war, they would experience their annihilation. This was no empty talk. The world war is here. The annihilation of the Jews must be the necessary consequence. This question is to be viewed without sentimentality. We’re not to have sympathy with the Jews, but only sympathy with our German people. If the German people has again now sacrificed around 160,000 dead in the eastern campaign, the instigators of this bloody conflict will have to pay for it with their own lives.” From that quote from Hitler’s speech given in Berlin, he persuaded his audience that is her the Jewish people fault for everything. This is the same thing that Trump does with his audience. He believes that majority of America’s issues come from the Mexicans and the Muslims. After the San Bernardino shootings in December of last year, Trump made statements on how to regulate Muslims. Trump felt as if something could be done to stop them. He used the shooting as a way to once again ensure his audience that if there was some type of band on Muslims entering the US, that everyone would be safe. Both Trump and Hitler said things that are unethical.
Morally many statements they said would be wrong, but because of the belief and culture of both audiences. It seemed as if it okay to think and feel such hatred towards people. Trump said, “I am calling for a total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering the United States.” From that quote given one can understand the reality of ethically how wrong Trump is for making this statement. One cannot discriminate against a certain group of people based off of color, nationality, sexual orientation, or religion. Trump displaces doing this several times. He has the same hatred towards Muslims as Hitler had towards the Jewish people of Germany. One can even look at ethos to better understand both view points as it pertains to Hitler’s and Trump’s views of Jewish, and Islamic people. The atmosphere of the audience of Trump’s listeners shows the effects of today’s current news. Many attacks have been done by people of the Islamic religion. That does not mean that all Islamic people condone of the terrorist attacks. For Trump, he feels that all Muslims should now be excommunicated from the US which is morally wrong, and not becoming of an American President. While with Hitler as stated before, he felt as if all of Germany’s problems were because of the Jewish people. He felt as if they should be eradicated immediately. They both appealed to the culture and mood of their audience through their speeches to gain followers. By the …show more content…
tone in their voices and the sincerity of the topics caused their audiences to listen and agree with them. Even though ethically it was wrong to dislike people based of religion or nationally. When understanding the content of Trump’s speeches, one must be able to understand his audience.
Trump appeals to mostly southern white Americans for his campaign. This is something that is very important to look at. Reason being, one can understand the rhetoric of his speeches more in-depth. Being the fact that many of his followers are southerners there is an educational piece that maybe missing that is needed for Trump’s ideas to be logical and with reason. According to RealClearPolitics.com, “One half of his voters have a high school education or less which is why Trump appeals to that special breed of southern Republican; with a particularly special appeal to Texans.” Trump appeals to people who are uneducated to see how unrealistic his ideas are. Trying to restrict a certain group of people from entering the US because of religion; logically cannot happen. It will automatically go against the First Amendment of the Constitution of the United States of America. Which says, “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.” “Prohibiting the free exercise thereof” This is exactly what the constitution protects as it pertains to religion. In America, one can worship, or be a part of any religion he or she chooses, and that the government cannot try to
limit or prohibit it. Trump speaks of ideas that cannot be done because of the governmental structure and laws that have been set up by the United States’ government. It will be illogical for him to pose such a sanction against people of Islamic beliefs. Even for Hitler, someone who wanted a pure race to control the world. By mass assimilation of people who did not have blond hair, blue eyes, and was Christian. This came from what the Nazi party believed was the purest to the Aryan and or Nordic people. This is what fueled them to kill anyone that did not have this genetic makeup in their genes. Logically this wouldn’t be able to happen for there are so many different nationalities and races in the world, but to him he thought it could be done. He was on the right track when looking at the numbers; he killed over six million Jewish people in an attempt to make Germany pure. Both Trump and Hitler, have and could have the ability to be powerful positive leaders because of the style and delivery of their speeches. Sadly, both use them as ways to oppress people of a certain race and or religion. Trump has studied Hitler for years according to his own statement of him keeping Hitler’s “My New Order” on him at all times reading and studying of Hitler’s tactics. One can see the importance of understanding the tone and message that speaker’s convey to their audience. It is important because it will later show the outcome of their followers. For Hitler, the outcome resulted in the death of millions of people. It resulted in racism still being present because there are people who still follow by his ethos of having an Aryan nation. There are people who still believe that this hellish account of genocide can still be obtained in today’s time. As for Trump, the outcome has not been given as of yet. America will not know their fate until Election Day in November. One can gather though the true sentiments of racism and fascism that his within his heart. God Bless America for what may to come.
