Nino Ramirez, director of the Center of Integrative Brain Research at Seattle Children’s Hospital, did research on mice to see the effects that rapid screen-switching may have on teenager’s brains. He discovered that the mice who had similar stimuli as screen-switching when put in a maze took three times longer than the mice who had not had the stimuli. The effect was permanent. When he scanned the brains he found that there were fewer nerve cells, the cells that are responsible for learning and memory.
