Martin Luther King Jr. was, and still is, a very famous peaceful Civil Rights activist. He is most well known for his inspirational “I Have a Dream” speech. But unfortunately, for most people, these are the only facts they know about him. Most people I asked knew very little about this legendary man and I think that is very sad. So With this paper, I am going to dive into this incredible man’s life and legacy and talk all about his entire life not just his famous speech.

The point of this boycott was to desegregate buses and under his leadership and after about a year of walking everywhere it worked. He then went on to become one of the sixty men to found the Southern Christian Leadership Conference which organized the infamous sit-ins at segregated diners which desegregated diners in twenty-seven Southern cities. One sit-in he participated got him charges that were then dropped but he went to jail because of violation of his probation. He was then arrested again in 1963 during a demonstration in Alabama. This was part of there Alabama campaign which is where he made his famous “I Have A Dream” speech right on our nation’s capital.
The last speech that Martin made was his “I’ve Been To The Mountaintop” speech which was oddly poetic because in this speech he said “I've seen the promised land. I may not get there with you. But I want you to know tonight that we, as a people, will get to the promised land.I've seen the promised land. I may not get there with you. But I want you to know tonight that we, as a people, will get to the promised land.” The next day while standing on the balcony of his room at the Lorraine Motel he was shot in the head with a sniper gun by a man named James Earl
