One major thing athletics have taught me is that I hate to lose. This hatred of loss sparked my strong determination and perseverance. Determination and perseverance go hand in hand when it comes to sports. If one does not possess these two integral characteristics, then there is no way one can be successful. Determination and perseverance are incredibly important characteristics for not only athletics but real life. If faced with adversity or trials one cannot just give up and quit. You must persevere through the adversity and push back just as hard to achieve your goals. I do not give a weak effort and do not give up. I was instructed over, and over, and over to be a good sport. I knew this was very important and always supported not only my teammates but my opponents. This does not mean I would be rooting for the opposite team, but afterward, I would converse with them. Being a friendly person is something athletics made me learn and now it has become a part of me. I was sort of thrown into leadership when it came to tennis because of my position on the team.
