Typically, the career of pharmacists is concentrated on the correct and proper interpretation of prescriptions and the dispensing of products as prescribed (FDA, 2009). They represent as the final check and approval of a pharmaceutical product before it leaves the pharmacy and delivered to the patient for their use. While it is common that the place of work of pharmacists is in a hospital setting many pharmacists offer their practices as clinicians, wellness and health promotion professionals in a community health, as industrial pharmacist, consultants, post-secondary teachers, and owning and running their own pharmacy chains. Whether the practice of pharmacists is private or public their duty continues to focus on the well-being of their patients through correct prescriptions.…

Silence. Silence is what the audience awarded to Jerry Lee Lewis in London, the first stop on his European tour. While he sat at the piano--banging his bony fingers onto the keys with all of his strength, his hair flying in front of his face, sweat dripping down his face, putting all of his energy into his music until he simply had to kick the bench to the side and stand because sitting did not do the song justice--the audience refused to engage in his exuberance. Noticing this, he withdrew from his euphoria and said, “Y’all don’t have to jus’ stand there all quiet.” So they listened.…
My academic goal is most important to me because now that I am older and about to start college I need to get more service hours to get a scholarships. I feel that its something I must do no matter what and in the end if it doesn’t help me then so be it but I know I helped others and helped my community.…

First, I fell in love with the pharmacy when I was seven years old; I had a high fever and was diagnosed with malaria. When I was told I will be getting injections, I rejected it, I felt bad I didn’t like injections. My last injection gave me a swollen bum. The doctor later placed on drugs, within a few days I recovered. Ever since then I promised myself that day I was going to become someone who makes those pills in future so that other kids won’t have to take those painful injections.…
There are two instances in my life that has inspired me to gain interest in medicine. My grandmother when I was around the age of twelve received double bypass surgery and I fell in love with the physician who took care of her. The physician was a middle aged woman who was one of the kindest person I have ever met, and she gave us the news of how everything went fine during surgery. She also gave us great confidence in how my grandmother would return to normal soon. The look on my parents and aunts face when she gave the news gave me goosebumps and to this day I feel the same goosebumps when I think about this. I just wanted to one day be in a position to deliver good news to a family and to see that “look” of relief on their faces. Another…
The reasons why I want to be a PA is that it is a profession that offers so much flexibility, diversity, and an expansive set of knowledge and skills for an individual that wants to practice medicine without having to go to medical school. As a PA, I would have an extensive choice of specialties I can practice in with the flexibility of working two different specialties simultaneously or switching from one specialty to another without requiring any extra schooling. I grew up with the mindset to learn something about everything. PAs are taught under this generalist principle to have knowledge in almost every discipline of medicine without requiring years of schooling. One of my main aspirations in becoming a PA is to be capable of teaching myself everyday throughout my entire life.…
There are many roles that a pharmacist can hold in the healthcare system. This group of pharmacists is critical to the improvement of the hospitals around the world. Hopefully, my role as a pharmacist will be as heath-system pharmacist. I am extremely interested in drug therapy. I love that I could potentially help and educate patients on…
Medicine gives people hope that there is a light at the end of the tunnel and I want to be a part of that light. I know that it is going to be a hard and difficult road but, I will overcome those obstacles like others before me did. Nobody said it was going to be easy anyway. I am going to be a doctor that helps others in life, even if I could just help one family and bring some closure my journey would not be in vain.…
Motivation is important for student success because it determines the success of a student; it can come with “in” or from the outside. It has needs, wants, values, or desires; the student has a balance of self-confidence, self-esteem, patience and persistence. It drives the student to work and learn, it also has that desire to achieve greater success.…
Something that disturbs me about being a pharmacist in retail pharmacy is knowing that I am responsible for what everyone under me does. Something as little as a technician making a dispensing mistake (bottling the wrong drug) can cause me to get fired or even lose my license. I am also bothered about the long hours that pharmacists have to work. About 90% of the job is done on foot and this seems pretty tiresome. I still have questions as to why this is so. What is it about this career that people barely sit down? Another disturbing factor I came across is having to work with sick patients. These types of people are usually the worst to work with because they are not in a very friendly mood. I wonder what is it that motivates pharmacists to do this because I would probably be afraid of catching their ailing germs. I would also like to know how pharmacists manage to put up with several different attitudes in any given day and still finish their job with a smile on their face.…
It is very important to know about all aspects of medications especially in a hospital setting. Pharmacists are the double check system to make sure that the right medication is given to the patient to treat their problem. An example of that is, if a doctor gives an order for an antibiotic to treat a certain strain of bacteria, and the antibiotic doesn’t cover that strain it’s important to know the pharmacology of that drug so you can let the doctor know so they can prescribe something that will work.…
Through out pharmacy school, I plan to gain more experience, while continuing to excel academically in pharmacies studies. I greatly understand that the pharmacy program is highly competitive, but with eight years of dedication in the pharmacy field, experience, skills and knowledge, I’m eager to say that I am ready to face the challenges that awaits me. Whereas pharmacy school will lead to bigger opportunities, it also will prepare me to advance from an pharmacy technician to a pharmacist. Holding the title of Doctor of Pharmacist means I will able to assist patients on a more professional level about their prescription an daily…
Pharmacy field, which is the study of dispensing medication, is growing very fast and pharmacists are really making good money. Many people think of working in a store when pharmacy is mentioned. There is much more with pharmacy than working in a drug store. You can help people, counsel patients, do research and advise on proper medication over certain diseases. Being a pharmacist does not keep you bound to pharmacology and medical dispensing alone.…
