Why Should Animal Testing Should Be Banned?

Animals have been used in countless numbers of experiments ever since humans first developed a curiosity of how the human body works. Due to opening up a human in ancient times being not only taboo but also considered blasphemous to God, animals were used as substitutes to understand the human anatomy. It was relatively recently that humans started to use animals to understand diseases and test new chemicals we have developed. These animals have helped humanity advance to where it is today, and we should be grateful for their contribution. But, with technology becoming ever more advanced and the animal rights movement strengthening every day, the time has come to put a phase of humanity behind us. Klazema (2014) states that a new method to conduct chemical tests called in-vitro testing, allows researchers to conduct tests without the need to use animals. By introducing chemicals to animal cells in a petri dish or test tube, researchers are able to assess the danger of chemicals, without risking the lives of innocent animals. Other than that, NEAVS (2016) argues that in-vitro testing is also more accurate than animal testing. By using human cells in in-vitro testing, researchers are able to more accurately identify the danger of a chemical to the human body, as the best way to test the safety of a chemical on a human is to test it on human cells. With this alternative to animal testing, researchers are able to obtain a more accurate result without using animals. Thus, animal testing should be banned as better options
Humanity as a whole has moved into an era where we can create new cells and feel empathy for other creatures. It is time to close a phase of humanity on the experimentation on innocent animals.
