Why Should Animals Be Used For Medical Research?

Imagine being an animal chosen to be tested on, having no rights to fight for freedom or to even live. These are thoughts that most likely race through animals’ minds when they are held in captivity by experimenters. In order to test medicines and medical procedures, animals--like mice, rats, dogs, and cats--are often used in order to avoid actually testing on humans. Unfortunately, some of these tests are not only painful for the animals, but they also do not result in medicines or procedures that can actually be used on humans. Animals should not be used for medical research because animals have rights as living creatures, the tests are a waste of time and money, and there are other testing methods.
