Why Should Self Driving Cars Be Legalized
Laws to legalize self driving cars is a good thought, but it disrespects experienced drivers. The self driving cars are a cop out for people new to driving because they are lazy and don’t want to learn properly. Experienced drivers don’t want to waste their time on teens who don’t care about driving and focus on those who really are serious about the idea of operating a vehicle the right way.

Self driving cars can be a negative thing because of all the human error involved. In one instance, one of Google’s self driving cars got into an accident with another vehicle after the driver panicked when the car slowed to a stop for pedestrian. When he panicked, the driver stomped on the brake and the car behind him rear ended him. There was no injures, but the two cars suffered heavy damage. (Tribune News Service)

Car companies are selling these at 10,000 dollars more than their standard price. Most people if they have a brain between their shoulders should realize that spending this kind of money isn't the smartest thing to do. There is always those few people who aren't as bright as most people who would spend that money to get a car that can kill you or severely injure you. (Tribune News Service)

With each lawsuit the car company's reputation will be damaged. After a while, the companies will drop the idea of the self driving car. (Tribune News Service)

Self driving cars are not a good idea. With all the problems and dangers surrounding the self driving cars, people will not buy them and stick to remotely driving cars. Driving a car manuely is much safer and cheaper than a self driving car.

The danger of the switch is that self driving cars have to take into account the cars that are still operated by people: “‘autonomous drive vehicles are a wonderful idea, but the transition from driver-operated to driverless is likely to be filled with accidents.’ For instance, while approaching a traffic light, a self-driving car calculates that if it speeds up a little bit, it will be able to pass through the light, but the driver in the car in front decides to stop because he thinks he won’t make it on time. What do you think the result will be?” (Ramirez). The most controversial part of self driving cars however, is how the computer inside the car will decide whose life is more important in the case of an inevitable accident. “the cars will be designed to avoid accidents, but ‘If it happens where there is a situation where a car couldn’t escape, it’ll go for the smaller thing.’ But what if the smaller thing is a child?” (Spangler). It is very difficult to determine whose life is more important, and even more difficult to program a car to…
