Some people would say that it’s sophisticated having them. Authors of document D states that self-driving cars will twenty miles per hour and have a GPS. The authors of documents A and B believed that casualties and accidents would decrease as the functions of the cars get better. Others would say that it’s the future, and we should progress with them. Some also would say that it’s cool and nice to have “safe” self-driving cars. According to document D, self-driving cars would have a “laser range finder” and a front that could decrease the severity of the injuries. Therefore, proponents of the self-driving cars, say that the self-driving cars will be the cause of potential decreasing accidents and deaths and is beneficial to society. …show more content…
Although self-driving cars are modernized and part of the future, they’re still in their premature stages.
Anyone can hack into the systems, causing peculiar incidents like two cars constantly bumping into each other. The incidents would be part of a statistic. Document D’s statement on the self-driving cars’ speed is unsatisfactory. The reason is that people drive faster than twenty miles per hour during commuting hours, and it would worsen commute. On a common day, it takes, at least, thirty minutes or less to go across the Bay Bridge. With the self-driving cars, it would slow down the traffic on the popular commute areas. Therefore, self-driving cars will take years to develop the ability to be as fast as humans in the ability of
driving.
In addition, people despise or isn’t familiar with the idea of self-driving cars. According to document D, only four states implemented laws about self-driving cars. For example, sobriety and license are required to operate a self-driving car in Florida and California. However, the self-driving cars have been in trouble with the police a few times within the last six months. Policies will have to adapt to the changes when the self-driving cars arrive like detecting a fault when disputing an incident. Another problem would change since there would have to be a dedicated lane for self-driving cars. Therefore, self-driving cars will cause a fiasco.
In the end, self-driving cars should not be allowed on the road. It would be a lose-win situation. Although the self-driving cars are the future, they will cause risks and potentially raise the incident rates. As stated before, it could happen in any place. Also, it would be an interesting experience for all. Overall, the cars are still in their premature stages, testing each prototype as we speak.
