Why We Shouldn T Pay Students For Good Grades
Do you think the paying students for good grades are a beneficial idea? “Research by Edward Deci and others show that most children are, by nature, motivated to learn.” Well, if this is true, shouldn’t students be left alone instead of getting paid? Would you rather have your students care about their education or money? If parents and schools want students to be motivated to do well in the classroom, then they shouldn’t pay students for good grades. They shouldn’t pay students because students will only achieve and care about the money, but not their education. From conflicts between parents, students and schools, to lower academic performances, to short term motivation, there are many negative effects of paying students.

To begin with, students shouldn’t be paid for getting good grades because of conflicts between parents, teachers and students. For example, quoting “Prairieecothrifter.com” “...including pressure to inflate grades and conflict with students and parents.” This eventually leads to parents and their kids having problems. Students may also have problems with teachers because, they may no longer be able to afford paying all their students. The effect of this of this is that the student’s grade will slowly start to drop.

The source that supports this is “Good Grades. Are you willing to pay for them?” by Ginger Ninja. An example from that source is “...study by John Hopkins University researches demonstrated that paying students for grades seemed to improve attendance.” But undoubtedly this can be challenging because even if the students do really well and earn money, there will eventually be a time where that changes. That will change once the students no longer earn good grades and their parents stop paying them. This will eventually lead to student’s grades dropping. Summarizing, kids should not be paid for good

Why should kids be paid for doing a professionals job? The debate on whether or not to pay college athletes is a debate that has been argued for quite some time. Due to the lack of positive results, and a surplus of negatives, this should not take place. There is no way to muster up a fair system to pay the athletes while keeping everyone happy. Also, paying players will distract them from their academics due to them knowing that they can make money playing sports. Lastly, the athletes already have an opportunity for money with scholarships. Therefore, in order to keep college athletes happy and focused on school while still giving them an opportunity to receive scholarships, the students should not be paid for their athletic performances.…

It's just a very bad idea in general. We would be giving people money for what they won't be doing to prepare for their future. I believe the reason you go to college is to get your degree. It’s not a minor league or an audition for the pros.” (Lobo). How much time and effort are student-athletes actually getting credit for? Should college athletes be paid for playing? The coaches of most college sports teams are getting all the rewards while the players are doing all the work. Paying athletes could improve attitudes and create more motivation. There are three main arguments as to why college athletes should be paid to play sports: athletes will be more motivated for academic studies, schools earn massive amounts of money from athletic events, and athletes have more costs to cover.…

After doing research and analyzing others opinions, I still believe that student athletes should not be paid on top of getting scholarships from schools. The idea of it may sound great but the negative impacts it brings is not worth it, therefore being a student athlete and getting scholarships should be a big enough incentive to work hard and educate yourself to get a better and high paying job than others. It makes students and athletes work harder for what they want in life. Student athletes lives should stay the way they are today and not be paid on the…

Some people argue that college sports are more entertaining because they are playing solely for the love of the game, and that when they reach professional level and start getting paid that they don't play as hard. But if we were to pay them during college it would create financial awareness and I think that James Douglas' idea is what we should do. he said "Even if the NCAA or the universities paid the students a stipend and put it in a trust fund to be accessed upon graduation it might make a small difference in teaching young people how to handle money." (Listland). Even if they aren't getting paid thousands of dollars it would still…

Adolescents, who are most likely seeking money than education, will no longer try to challenge themselves and enroll in easier classes just to get the money from the easy A. According to Mary Ellen Flannery’s article “Cash for Grades?” she writes that money rewards prevents students from becoming successful in the future because of this. Similarly, in another article it is written by the author that the cash for grades programs do lead to less motivation put onto kids to do better in school (Peterson). No argument can be made about this because students that do not challenge themselves should not be rewarded and if money rewards are given out. If so, no students would be recognized because none would enroll in Honors or AP courses that have a more rigorous curriculum compared to on-level classes which is what students will enroll in to get the rewards with less effort and time put into their own education. Education departments nationwide should abolish any cash for grades programs put in any schools for the bettering of the school’s reputation and students’…
