William Buckland Research Paper

William Buckland, born on the twelfth of March in 1784, was a well-renowned paleontologist famous for writing the first full account of a fossil dinosaur. On the side however Mr. Buckland was also infamous for having “eaten his way through the animal kingdom,” even all the way up to a human heart. However, despite his intriguing eccentricities, he was a major contributor to the way the world thinks about dinosaurs, the age of the earth, and the linking of evolutionism and creationism. Buckland was born in Axminster, Devon in England and was the first son of the Rector of Templeton and Trusham Charles Buckland, and Elizabeth Buckland. When Buckland was young his family lived near a vast number of quarries in his home town of Axmisnter. These quarries, at the time, were magnanimous with fossil remains. Today these quarries are used entirely for basic rocks, aside from one name “Beer Quarry Caves,” which is now a museum. Three years later, with the help of his uncle, Buckland would win a scholarship of an unknown amount to Corpus Christi University. At the end of his third year, Buckland would earn his Bachelor of Arts degree. After graduating, Buckland would remain to work on his Master’s, take on pupils, and attending lectures on geology and anatomy from John Kidd and Christopher Pegge respectively, all while living entirely off his scholarship.
