Some really effective moments when we worked as a team was when we had to organise the fish and chips and when we had to set up for the quiz night, we all stuck together and set up the hall in under an hour. I think that at the end of the event once we had counted how much we had raised, we all felt proud of ourselves at what we had achieved and this really showed as we were excited to let our guests know how much they had helped us and the charity.…

Wolves and humans have been coexisting for hundreds of years. Before Europeans conquered our vast country, wolves held a very esteemed place in Native American culture, as they were vital to forest ecosystems, and were often believed to be spiritual beings in many tribes (kidsplanet 1). As much as they were honored in tribal cultures, others feared them. Children’s fables often described them as “the big bad wolf” in stories such as Little Red Riding hood and The Three Little Pigs (kidsplanet 1). Settlers saw wolves in this way because they were a sort of competition, dwindling stock and wild game numbers (kidsplanet 1). Even into the 20th century, the belief that wolves were still a threat to human safety continued despite documentation to the contrary, and by the 1970s, the lower forty eight states had wolf populations less than three percent of their historical range, about 500 to 1,000 wolves (kidsplanet 1). In a book written by Bruce Hampton called The Great American Wolf, he states,…

For our Lent challenge as a form in Year 8 we organised a band and barbeque evening to raise money for a children’s cancer charity called “Clic”. In total over three hundred pound was raised in one evening and throughout the school our form has carried the same charity with us, at the end of Year 11 we hope to have raised over five hundred pound to give to them. I worked well in a team during this evening, I took an active role in organizing the food, drinks, decorations and raffle. I researched prices of the food to find out the cheapest food at the highest standard and I made many decorations by hand as well as using my communication skills to speak on the night to complete the raffle. By raising money for charities we show the giving qualities of the church and by working together to reach a goal we show family/community qualities.…

My project will be conducted at the Liberty Humane Society Animal Shelter here in Jersey City. I chose Liberty Humane because I have been a volunteer there for several years and find it to be a very rewarding way of spending some of my free time. I intend to make this an education based project by requiring each of my 36 varsity football players to serve 1 hour with me at the shelter during the season. Some of the tasks we will perform will include but not be limited to dog walking, kennel cleaning/ maintenance, feeding animals and working at pet adoption events. We will also spend time socializing dogs with humans and other animals to help make them adoptable at some point.…
