the event. The closure used in this poster shows an incomplete stimulus, which leads the audience to find further information by going to the company’s website.
I feel that the stimulus characteristics are effective in prompting customers to make many inferences about the different meanings of the stimuli.
Firstly, by putting the woman running as the figure-ground, it automatically captured my attention about what the ad was actually for. At first I figured it was for some sort of sports team, until I realized the ribbon in close proximity to the woman running. And then big light switch moment, when I realized that nearly the whole poster was pink. These small graphic and colors tied together to create a bigger picture for me of then knowing, it was for breast cancer awareness. Once I realized the inference, I then began to look at the text about the event location and date, which was right above the drawing. Overall I think that this was a great advertisement to capture the audience’s attention, and allow them to draw their own conclusions and evoke feelings by looking at the
poster.
